Extra Cheesy Baked Macaroni (Mac Hack)

Sometimes you just have to be a little cheesy. But today, we’re going to be extra cheesy! This Extra Cheesy Baked Macaron is made all in ONE PAN and is tossed together to bake up in the oven in just over half an hour. The best part is? It’s some of the most rich, creamy, decadent macaroni dishes that you’ll ever make. That blue box of powdered crap has nothing on these noods!

I’ve heard about this hack before of being able to one pan macaroni in the oven, but I’d never tried it until today. I’ll be honest in saying that I was super impressed that it worked so well! I mean, why would you make macaroni any other way?

I lightened these cheesy goods up by using reduced fat velveeta and cheddar. I really gave it a good thought about using whole wheat noodles, but I really wanted to stick with the classic here. I also swapped out all of the regular milk and instead used an unsweetened almond milk and water. I know, I know - that sounds weird. But, hear me out. You’ll never know the difference with the huge amount of cheese going on in here. So take the fewer calories and enjoy!

Outside of that, this macaroni is as straight forward and fool proof as can be.

The cheesiest macaroni and cheese you'll ever make or eat and it's all done in one pan in the oven! Kids and adults will both loves this cheesy classic.

Ingredients

  • 16 Oz. Reduced Fat Velveeta
  • 3 C. Uncooked Elbow Macaroni
  • 1 1/2 C. Unsweetened Almond Milk
  • 1 1/2 C. Water
  • 2 C. Freshly Grated Reduced Fat Cheddar Cheese
  • 1 Stick Butter
  • 1 1/2 Tsp. Black Pepper
  • 1 Tsp. Salt
  • 1/4 Tsp. Ground Mustard (Or 1 Tbsp. Dijon)
  • 1/4 Tsp. Garlic Powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Place all of the ingredients into a large oven safe skillet.
  3. Transfer to the oven and cook for 25 minutes.
  4. Remove from the oven and give it all a good stir.
  5. Place the skillet back into the oven to continue to cook for another 10-15 minutes or until the noodles are cooked through.
  6. Once done, remove from the oven and enjoy right away!
